What a painting website has to do
Most people looking for a painter are stuck on two questions: what colour, and how much. A family repainting a few rooms wants to know the house will stay livable and clean. An owner of an old weatherboard or stone house wants to hear that someone will test for lead and respect the building. Plenty of people cannot picture a colour until they see it on a real wall.
So the site has clear jobs. It should show finished rooms in a way that helps people choose, explain preparation so the price makes sense, and say which suburbs you cover. It should also collect enough detail for you to arrive at the measure already knowing the rooms, surfaces and condition. Your ABN, licence and insurance belong where people can find them before they let a crew into the house.
How the demo handles it
Derwent Painting Co. is a fictional business that VirtueInfo created for this demo. It is not a client, and its phone number, reviews and prices are samples. The site works end to end, so you can use it as a homeowner would.
The home page sets out four kinds of work as paint-chip cards: interiors, exteriors, heritage homes and colour help. Below them, four numbered steps walk through the job from measure and quote to the final walk-through. A twelve-month strip shows which months suit outside work and which are for interiors, because exterior paint fails early when it goes on cold, damp timber.
The interior and exterior page lists what the crew paints inside and outside, then breaks preparation into washing, scraping, filling, priming and two finish coats. A table of sample starting prices follows. The heritage page covers Georgian, Victorian and Federation colour schemes, lead-safe preparation, breathable finishes for sandstone and lime render, and the colour schedule an owner may need for a council application.
The signature feature is the gallery. Twelve illustrated projects are sorted into six colour families, and a row of swatch buttons filters them while a counter shows how many match. The filter is stored in the page address, so a link to the greens opens on the greens. Every project has a "Quote this look" link that opens the quote form with that colour already filled in.
The quote form is split into five "coats": rooms or areas, surfaces, condition, colours, and contact details. It asks when the house was built and whether it is heritage-listed, takes photos of the walls, and checks each answer in the browser with a clear message beside any gap. In the demo nothing is sent, and the confirmation says so.
Local SEO built in
Each page carries structured data using the schema.org HousePainter type, with the business name, phone, city, opening hours and the areas served. Inner pages add breadcrumbs and a Service description, and the gallery is marked up as a collection page. Titles follow real searches, such as "heritage house painters Hobart" on the heritage page and "painting quote Hobart" on the quote page.
The home page lists the suburbs covered as plain text, from the city centre to the Eastern Shore, so search engines can read them. The business name, phone and area match what goes into your Google Business Profile, which keeps the two consistent.
The demo is built with plain HTML, CSS and one small script. Fonts are self-hosted and the illustrations are drawn in code, so pages stay light on a phone. Because the business is fictional, the demo pages are kept out of search results. Because Derwent Painting Co. is invented, its demo stays out of search results, while a real painter site launches open to Google with a sitemap and canonical tags.
Notes for each market we serve
India
We write in Indian English, show prices in rupees and can add Hindi or a regional language. Homeowners often prefer to send a WhatsApp message with photos of the walls, so a WhatsApp button sits beside the quote link. The site can mention UPI for advance and final payments.
USA
We switch to American spelling ("color"), dollar prices and ZIP codes for the service area. Many states expect painting contractors to show a licence number, and the footer has room for it alongside insurance details. Lead-safe work on older homes is a common question, so the build-year step stays in the form.
Canada
We use Canadian spelling, Canadian dollars and postal codes for the area list. For customers in Québec we build a French version of each page. Any provincial registration or licence number goes in the footer.
Australia
The demo is already set up for Australia, with Australian spelling, prices in AUD including GST and suburbs grouped around the city. Painters usually display their ABN and state licence, and the footer holds both with public liability details. The outside and inside months can be adjusted to your local climate.
Finland
We build the site in Finnish and Swedish, with English where your customers expect it, and show prices in euros including VAT. Your business ID goes in the footer. Customers often want labour shown separately in a quote because of the household tax credit, so the form and price notes can mention it.
What we deliver and how the project runs
We design to your brand rather than the Derwent look, and we write the copy with you from the jobs you do and the suburbs you work in. Your own project photos replace the illustrations, tagged by colour family so the filter keeps working.
Quote requests go to your email, WhatsApp, your CRM or your booking system, with photos and the chosen colour attached. At hand-over you get the code, the hosting setup and a short guide to adding projects and changing prices. Our digital marketing services team can then help with your Google Business Profile, reviews and local search.
Send us your service list and the suburbs you cover, and ask us for a quote.
