Website design for plumbers

We build plumbing websites that get the phone ringing at 2 a.m. and the quote form filled in at lunchtime. To show how, we built a working demo for Lone Pipe Plumbing Co., a fictional company in Austin, Texas.

Lone Pipe Plumbing Co. is a fictional plumber in Austin, Texas, USA, created by VirtueInfo to show what we build. Designed and developed by our team.

What a plumbing website has to do

People land on a plumber's website in two moods. Some have water coming through the ceiling and want a phone number they can tap with wet hands. Others are planning a water heater swap or a repipe and want to know whether you cover their street, roughly what it costs and how to ask for a price without a long call.

Landlords and property managers form a third group. They want written prices up front and a quick way to send photos and an address.

So the site has a short list of jobs. It must put the emergency number in reach on every page, answer "do you come to my area" in seconds, explain each service in plain words, collect enough detail for you to quote without a site visit, and show the license and insurance details people check before they let a stranger into the house.

How the demo handles it

Lone Pipe Plumbing Co. is a fictional business that VirtueInfo created for this demo. It is not a client, and its phone number, team and prices are samples. The site itself is fully working, so you can click through it the way a customer would.

A strip at the top of every page says the emergency line answers day and night, with a tap-to-call button. On phones the call button moves to a bar at the bottom of the screen, where a thumb can reach it.

The signature feature is the ZIP code checker on the home page and the Service Areas page. A visitor types a ZIP code and gets one of three answers: on the regular route with no trip charge, in the extended area where a small trip charge may apply, or outside the area with a suggestion to call anyway.

The emergency page tells people what to do while they wait: shut off the main valve, turn off the water heater, open a low faucet and take photos for the insurer. The drains and water heater pages explain causes, repair options and permits in plain words.

The Get a Quote page is a three-step form: the job and its urgency, the property and a description with photos, then contact details and the preferred way to reply. Each step is checked in the browser before the visitor moves on, and choosing "Emergency right now" shows a note to call instead.

Local SEO built in

Every page carries structured data using the schema.org Plumber type, with the business name, phone, address, the cities served and opening hours set to cover the whole week. Page titles follow the pattern customers search with, such as "emergency plumber Austin" on the emergency page and "water heater repair Austin" on the water heater page.

The service area content does real work for search. Each city and ZIP code appears as text on the page, not only inside the checker. The name, phone number and service area match what you would enter in your Google Business Profile, so the two support each other instead of disagreeing.

The site is plain HTML, CSS and a small script, with self-hosted fonts and drawings made in code rather than heavy photos. It loads quickly on a phone with a weak signal. Since Lone Pipe Plumbing Co. is a made-up plumber, its demo is hidden from search. A real plumber site we build is published indexable, with every page listed in the sitemap.

Notes for each market we serve

India

We write in Indian English and show prices in rupees, with an option for Hindi or a regional language. Many customers would rather send a WhatsApp message with a photo than fill in a form, so we add a WhatsApp button next to the call button. The area checker works on six-digit PIN codes and locality names, and the site can mention UPI as a payment option.

USA

The demo is already set up for the US: American spelling, prices in dollars, five-digit ZIP codes and a two-hour arrival window. Plumbing contractors usually show their state license number, and the demo has a place for it in the footer and on the About page.

Canada

We switch to Canadian spelling, prices in Canadian dollars and a postal code checker that reads the letter and number format. For customers in Québec we build a French version of every page, not only the home page. Your provincial licence or registration number goes in the footer.

Australia

We use Australian spelling, prices in Australian dollars with GST shown clearly, and a four-digit postcode checker. Tradies usually display their ABN and state licence number, so both go in the footer and on the quote page. The service area page is organised by suburb.

Finland

We build the site in Finnish and Swedish, with English where your customers expect it, and show prices in euros including VAT. Your business ID goes in the footer. Customers often ask how much of the price is labor, because of the household tax credit, so the quote can list labor separately as the demo already does.

What we deliver and how the project runs

We design the site around your brand, not the Lone Pipe look, and write the copy with you from the jobs you do and the areas you cover.

Enquiries go where you work: email, WhatsApp, your CRM or your booking system. Photos from the quote form travel with the enquiry.

At hand-over you get the code, the hosting setup and a short guide to editing prices, ZIP codes and service text. If you want us to keep it updated, our assistance and maintenance team looks after updates, backups and small changes.

Tell us about your plumbing business and the areas you cover, and ask us for a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the website show emergency and regular calls differently?

Yes. In the demo the call bar sits on every page, and the quote form shows a "call us now" note when someone picks "Emergency right now". Planned work goes through the form instead. We can route each type to a different phone line or inbox.

Can customers send photos of the problem with their quote request?

Yes. The demo quote form has a photo field in the property step, and the tips beside it ask for a picture of the water heater label or the shut-off valve. On a live site the photos arrive with the enquiry by email or in your CRM. That saves a lot of back and forth before you price a job.

How does the ZIP code checker know which areas I cover?

It reads a list of postal codes that you give us, split into your regular route and an extended area. Each result shows a plain message, including one for addresses you do not cover. When your area changes, the list is a short edit we can make or teach your team to make.

Should a plumbing website show prices?

Many plumbers prefer "from" prices for common jobs, with a note that the final price is confirmed in writing. The demo does this with sample figures on the service pages. If you would rather not publish prices, we leave them out and lean on the quote form.
