Website design for furniture makers

We build websites for furniture makers that let a buyer try each wood on a piece and see the price move with it. Our demo is Koivu Furniture, a fictional solid wood workshop in Lahti, Finland, built in English and Finnish.

Koivu Furniture is a fictional furniture maker in Lahti, Finland, created by VirtueInfo to show what we build. Designed and developed by our team.

What people want from a furniture maker's website

A furniture maker usually has three audiences online. A home owner furnishing a dining room wants to see the table in the wood they like, know the starting price and the lead time, and find a shop where they can sit on the chairs. An interior designer or architect wants drawings, samples, custom sizes and trade prices from one person. A shop owner wants to know how to stock your pieces and what help comes with it.

Each of these visitors is deciding something specific. The website has to show how a piece looks in each finish, give real measurements, explain how the wood will age, say where the furniture can be seen, and take a trade enquiry that already contains the details you need to reply.

How the demo handles it

Koivu Furniture is a fictional business that VirtueInfo created for this demo. It is not a client, and its prices, dealers and phone number are samples. The site is complete, in English and Finnish, so you can try it as a customer would.

The home page opens with a lounge chair drawing and three wood buttons above it. Pressing birch, oak or black-stained ash recolours the chair and its footstool straight away. Below that sit the collection, the three woods, four steps of workshop process, a trade section, the dealer cities and short answers to common questions.

The product pages carry the signature feature. On the dining table page the buyer chooses a wood and one of three sizes. The drawing changes colour, the specification lines change (for example "Solid oak, hard-wax oil" and "220 × 95 cm, seats 8"), and the starting price adds the right amount for each option. On the lounge chair page the same switcher includes wool or leather upholstery. The "Ask for a price or samples" button picks up every choice and opens the trade form with the piece ticked and a note of the chosen finish already written in the message box.

The collections page groups eight pieces into four families, with filter buttons for living room, dining, and storage and bedroom. A status line reports how many pieces are showing. The finishes and materials page compares the woods by origin, character and best use, explains natural oil, white oil, hard-wax oil and stain with lacquer, and gives care instructions.

The dealers page lists sample shops in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Oulu with the pieces each one shows, plus the Lahti workshop showroom. It closes with what a new dealer receives: floor models, sample sets, drawings and product texts. The about page explains the workshop's four working rules and how an order moves from drawing to delivery.

Local SEO built in

Every page carries schema.org FurnitureStore data with the workshop's city, phone and showroom hours. Product pages add Product and Offer data with a VAT-inclusive starting price, collections add an ItemList, and the home page adds FAQ data for its questions.

Each language has its own page titles written for what people search for, such as "solid wood furniture Lahti" in English and "massiivipuiset huonekalut Lahti" in Finnish. The dealer cities appear as text, which helps people searching for furniture in their own city. The address and hours match your Google Business Profile listing.

The site is plain HTML, CSS and one small script with self-hosted fonts and drawings in code, so pages load quickly on a phone. Search engines are told to skip the Koivu Furniture demo. When we build for a real furniture maker, the site is indexable from launch, with canonical tags and a sitemap in place. A client site launches fully indexable, with a sitemap, canonical tags and hreflang links between the language versions.

Notes for each market we serve

India

We switch to Indian English and rupee prices, and the wood list changes to the timbers you work with. Many buyers prefer to send a WhatsApp message with a photo of their room, so we add a WhatsApp button beside the enquiry link. Delivery areas can be listed by city and PIN code.

USA

We use American spelling, US dollars and measurements in inches alongside centimetres. Sales tax is usually added at checkout, so starting prices are shown before tax. Dealer listings can be grouped by state.

Canada

We use Canadian spelling and Canadian dollars, with dimensions in both inches and centimetres. If you sell into Québec, we add a French version of every page, including the switcher and the trade form.

Australia

Prices are shown in Australian dollars including GST, and your ABN goes in the footer. Dealer and delivery information is organised by state and city.

Finland

The demo is built for Finland: Finnish and English pages, euro prices including VAT and a place for the business ID in the footer. We can add Swedish for buyers on the coast and in Åland. The demo already states where the timber comes from and how each piece can be repaired.

What we deliver and how the project runs

We design the site around your own furniture and brand, not the Koivu look. We draw or photograph your pieces, set up the finishes and size options with their price differences, and write the text with you.

Trade enquiries and sample requests go to your email or your CRM, and we can add WhatsApp or a booking system for showroom visits. If you want to sell online, our ecommerce solutions team adds a cart and payments to the same product pages.

At hand-over you get the code, hosting and a short guide to adding pieces and changing prices, and we can stay on for updates.

Tell us about your workshop and how you sell today, and ask us for a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can buyers see a piece in different woods without separate photos for each?

Yes. The demo draws each piece in SVG and colours it through the stylesheet, so one drawing shows birch, oak or black-stained ash on the click of a button. If you prefer photographs, we set up the same switcher to swap between photos of each finish. Either way the specification line and the starting price change with it.

We sell through shops and direct. Can the website handle both?

Yes. The demo lists sample dealers by city and the workshop showroom, and says plainly that buyers can order from either. Every product page offers both "Ask for a price or samples" and "Find a dealer". We can also add a password-protected trade area with price lists for your dealers.

How do trade enquiries from interior designers reach us?

The trade form asks what kind of customer they are, the company, the country, the pieces, the quantity, the timeline and whether they want a sample set. If they arrive from a product page, the piece is already ticked and their chosen wood and size are in the message. On your site the enquiry goes to your email or CRM.

Do we need a Finnish and an English version?

For a maker selling in Finland and abroad, usually yes. The demo has every page in both languages under its own address, with a language switch in the top bar. We can add Swedish or another language for export markets in the same way.
