Website design for caterers

We built a working demo for a fictional Hyderabad caterer to show how a catering website can turn a guest count into a quote request. Hosts pick their event, menu tier and live counters and see a sample per-plate figure before they call.

Zafraan Catering Co. is a fictional caterer in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, created by VirtueInfo to show what we build. Designed and developed by our team.

What a catering website has to do

People who search for a caterer are usually planning something with a date already fixed. A family has a wedding with four or five functions, an office manager has a product launch for 200 people, or someone is hosting a pooja at home for 80 guests. Each of them wants a rough cost before they pick up the phone.

The site has to answer a short list of questions fast. What do you cook, and do you keep vegetarian food separate. Roughly what does a plate cost for my numbers. Can you work at my venue. How do I book a tasting. A gallery and a phone number answer none of those.

The site also has to collect a useful enquiry. A message that says "need catering, please call" costs your team a long call. One that gives the date, venue, guest count, menu tier and counters lets you send a written quote the same day.

How the demo handles it

Zafraan Catering Co. is a fictional business we created for this demo. It is a Hyderabad caterer doing weddings, office events and home functions, with separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian kitchens.

The home page leads with the three kinds of event it caters, then sample per-plate prices for each menu tier, then the live counters a host can add. Near the bottom sits a quick estimate: the visitor enters a guest count, picks veg or non-veg, and lands on the quote page with those numbers already set.

The quote builder

The quote page is the main feature. The visitor chooses the event, sets guests between 50 and 2,000 with a slider or the plus and minus buttons, picks pure-veg or mixed, and selects Classic, Royal or Nizami. Live counters such as chaat, dosa, tandoor kebabs or Irani chai are tick boxes priced per guest. As they change anything, the page recalculates the per-plate price, the total written in lakh and the size of the service team. It also adjusts for scale, with a discount for large counts and a small-batch charge for small ones.

When the host is happy, they send the estimate. The enquiry form below shows a summary of their choices, so the caterer receives the full picture with the name, mobile number, date and venue.

The other pages

The menus page sets out six sample menus in three tiers, with a switch between the pure-veg kitchen and the mixed one, and a button on each menu that prices it. The wedding page plans mehendi, sangeet and the main meal as one menu so dishes do not repeat, lists what arrives with the food, and shows a timeline from three months out to the day itself. The about page explains the two kitchens, food safety, how leftover food is handled, and where licence and GST numbers go. A WhatsApp link sits in the top bar of every page.

Local SEO built in

Each page carries FoodEstablishment structured data with the business name, city, the areas served and enquiry hours. Page titles are written for the searches hosts use, such as wedding catering in a city or a veg and non-veg menu per plate. The service area is named in the copy, and the footer repeats the same name, phone and city that should appear on your Google Business Profile, so the two match.

The demo pages are not indexed, because the business is fictional and we do not want it competing with real caterers. A client site launches fully indexable, with a sitemap, clean URLs and pages that load quickly on a mobile connection, since the artwork is light SVG rather than heavy photos.

Notes for each market

India

Hosts expect WhatsApp as the main enquiry route and UPI for the advance, both of which the demo already shows. Totals read better in lakh and crore format, and a GST invoice is expected for office work. Showing your FSSAI licence number on the site builds trust, and a Hindi, Telugu or other regional version can sit beside the English one.

USA

We switch to American spelling, US dollars and per-person pricing with tax and service charges shown as separate lines. Corporate clients often pay by card or invoice, so the enquiry form can ask for a company name and billing contact. Display any county health permit details in the way your local office expects.

Canada

Prices go in Canadian dollars, with GST or HST added on the quote. A caterer working in Québec should offer the site in French as well as English. Canadian spelling is used throughout.

Australia

Prices are in Australian dollars, and consumers generally expect the figure shown to include GST. Show your ABN in the footer. Australian spelling and date order apply.

Finland

A Finnish caterer usually needs the site in Finnish, often with Swedish and English versions. Prices are in euros with VAT included for private customers, and the business ID belongs in the footer. Allergen and diet labels on menus are expected, and the dish tags make that simple to manage.

What we deliver and how the project runs

We design the site to your brand, colours and kind of food, and write the copy with you from your real menus, rate card and event experience. We set up the quote builder with your prices and rules, then connect enquiries to your email, WhatsApp, your CRM or your booking system. Our UI and UX design team tests the quote flow on phones with people who plan events, because that is where most hosts start.

At hand-over you get the site, access to edit menus and prices, and a short walkthrough for whoever answers enquiries. We can keep looking after hosting, updates and seasonal menu changes afterwards. Send us your current menu and rate card through our contact page and we will come back with a quote for your site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the quote builder use our own prices and rules?

Yes. The per-plate rates, the discount for larger counts, the small-batch charge and the price of each live counter are all settings we fill in from your rate card. The demo also works out a service team size from the guest count, and we can change that ratio to match how you staff events. Customers only ever see a sample estimate, and your written quote stays the final word.

Where do the enquiries go?

Each enquiry arrives with the event type, guest count, menu tier, counters and estimate already filled in. We can send it to your email, to WhatsApp, to your CRM, or to all three. For many caterers WhatsApp is the useful one, because that is where families already talk to them.

How do we show pure-veg, Jain or halal arrangements?

The demo has an about page that explains its separate vegetarian kitchen, cooks and vessels, and its menus page lets visitors switch between pure-veg and veg and non-veg menus. You describe your own arrangements in your words and we place them where hosts look before they enquire. We do not add certification badges you do not hold.

Can we update menus ourselves for each season?

Yes. Menus are stored as structured content, with each tier holding its starters, mains, rice, breads and desserts. You edit a dish in one place and the menus page updates. If you change a tier price, the quote builder can read the same figure so the two never disagree.
